Yin and Yang

Category: Good Thing. Posted by Lucky at 4:56 pm.

I dont know which is Yin and which should be Yang….I suppose someone out there does - but I do not.

ANYWHO. Lets go with YANG being BAD. I will speak more on YANG later - since I have to head home for the night soon.

I wanted to make a brief post on YIN - which we will be going with YIN= GOOD. Annoyed yet? Heh.

I HAVE AN INTERVIEW ON FRIDAY! *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

If I was not fearful of the mocking and weird looks I would LITERALLY SQUEE. However, I am. So, I will not.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

That was a bonus Squee just for you, you over there, YES you. Stop, put down the cookie and look appreciative dammit.

Ok then.

So, my first interview is Friday from 11am to Noon. I will be meeting with both my Supervisor as well as our Manager.

THEN

I have another interview via tele-conference with two of our higher ups down in Cupertino, CA. That however is not until the 22nd - due to some planning sessions they will all be involved with next week.

Gonna be a LONG ASS TWO WEEKS.

*looks at Dan*

Distract me.

*grin*

Goddess BLESS!! THE NERVES!

Category: A Bed of Flowers. Posted by Lucky at 2:03 pm.

So, as many of you know, I have been working at Symantec as a “lackey” of sorts. Yanno, the girl-fridaym, understudy type. Well the lady I had been training under has recently taken a promotion to our sister department, leaving her ’spot’ open.

The protocol, because she is a Full Time Employee (FTE) is to post the position. That was done on Friday.

I submitted my resume and application today. *bites nails*

A large part of me knows and is comfortable knowing that I am a shoo-in for this position. I, amongst the rest of our small team, have spent the most time training under Dana and doing the kids of requests and work she was doing.

HOWEVER, be it no fault of anyone, I’ve often fought demons that told me “everyone” thought I wasnt ‘getting it’ fast enough, or was taking to long, or was making too many errors. Its neither here nor there WHY I feel that way….hashing it ‘out loud’ now would do no good.

Needless to say, a small part of me is terrified I will fall flat on my face.

I am guessing that this position could me atleast a $5 an hour increase for me, and would put me at FTE status with full health benefits. That would mean I would be just a hair under $20 an hour, which would be a HUGE help to us right now, and would mean we could actually start building a savings account to go towards the down payment of a house. Not to mention having the insurance for us and the kids.

It would also mean the opportunity to travel, as the Operations Specialist DO travel, maybe 3-4 times a year, depending on the circumstances and what Product Launches are going on. It would mean alot of things. Alot of potentially new and a bit scary things…but alot of really good things too.

Pray, meditate, send them vibes - all shapes and sizes welcome!

Hopefully within a fortnight I should know the outcome, if not sooner.

New Years Eve with the Trescott’s

Category: A Bed of Flowers. Posted by Lucky at 9:56 am.

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe and memorable NYE! We had quite a bit of fun ourselves! Dan and I hadda work 4 10’s last week (and this week as well) as being a Temp means no paid holidays. So, by the time we hit Friday, we were both a little bit punchy, because on top of four 10 hour days for me, it was mandatory – quarter end – overtime week for him. He actually hit his 40 hours about 930am on Friday LOL! The 12 hours OT will be nice, but DAMN. Makes for a tiring week – very tiring week.

We hung out in the evening, made a trip to wally-world to find a trifle bowl and an ash tray. No, I don’t smoke. I just wanted an ash tray for my patio dammit. For guests. Yeah. Then of course we had to make a late night run through Dutch Brothers. Omg. Their coffee is SOOOOO much better than Starbucks, Seriously. I just don’t know how I managed before!

Then it was back to the homestead for some Guitar Hero, giggles and such. I SO love that game, its MUCHO funfun. Stayed up for a bit playing Conquer while Dan played PS2. I finally decided to head up to read ‘Cell’ for a bit before going to bed. I didn’t end up getting to sleep until about 430am. WHOOPS!

Claire was up bright and early at 8am. Seeing as how Sunday is DAN’S sleep in day, it was up and att’em for me. Joy and rapture - Though she was pretty good, not nearly as bouncy as she CAN be some mornings. Perhaps she knew Mama was runnin’ on low fuel. Haley was up by 10am, and I was able to pass off the baton and get to futzing in the kitchen.

I pretty much killed my hand mixed making a FROM SCRATCH Devil’s Food Cake. I now know why the recipe called for it to be made in a stand mixer. * sigh * I REALLY liked that Black and Decker mixer too. Guess I will have to go plunk one on the ole Amazon list *grumble* Dan got the shrimp peeled and I started gathering and piling the components for the other dishes.

Made a “quick” run to the alcomohol store for some Kahluha and Bailey’s, only to find the line swirled through the entire store. Oh well, atleast they still HAD the stuff we wanted! Then one more quick run to Winco for stuff (like we needed MORE food….but I just had a VISION people…a VISION!!)

Finally back home and back to the rest of the cooking. There will be pictures at some juncture, but the spread included:

Spicy Glazed Shrimp (almost buffalo style)

BBQ Lil Smokies

Cheese Fondue & stuff to dunk in it

Sub Sandwiches

Chips and Dip

Veggie Plate

Cheese and Cracker Plate

And for dessert – Black Forest Trifle (OMG JUST STICK MY FACE IN THE BOWL!!!)

Once the food was all layed out and the kids were all occupied in one way or the other, I felt better. I was feeling rather spastic and anxious because the afternoon just flew by in a rather odd and uncoordinated fashion. But, I suppose when one “throws a party” that’s bound to happen.

Needless to say, everyone really seemed to enjoy all the food, and there was plenty enough for atleast 6 more people! I had put a loose invitation out to our next door neighbors, so I went and told them to come on over and “get ya some”, and they did. They stayed and chatted for a bit, but I think the craziness of 4 kids playing PS2 and obnoxious volume levels and Claire running around on over-load-mode, sent them packing LOL It was all good, I could just tell they were hoping for something a bit more subdued. HA! Not at THIS house.

Anyhow, the New Year came in with a bit of last minute drama, but other than that, it just well….came. :) I was surrounded by loved ones – both new and old – and just had a fantastic time. The Kahluha and cream certainly helped ;) I think it was 2am –ish or so by the time my very, OH SO VERY, tired head hit the pillow. Despite Dan’s best attempts, I was snoring within minutes.

Yesterday morning we were all up and around by 10ish I do think. Had some breakfast, had a couple cups of coffee and called it good. Then headed back for a nap. I think I ended up grabbing about 4 hours. MUCH needed sleep.

Back up for dinner, watched Curious Geourge with Claire (sorta – was putzing on the computer while Dan and Claire watched it), played Conquer for a bit – until my wrist screamed at me. Finished up the long weekend with a few more pages of ‘Cell’ and a peaceful doze off into slumber-land.

I think I could have used atleast 2 more days, but oh well. One of these days, hopefully sooner as opposed to later, we will actually acquire some paid time off, and I will be able to have a couple of “Kari Days”. But, that’s a subject for another post, which I daresay will get posted here pretty quick today, as I officially have nothing to do at work * bleh *
